If I was riding across America, the following map shows where my training would have me. I use a site called Fitness Journal. I enter my training rides and it does the map plotting. Some day, I’m really going to do a cross country trip.

I typically ride five to six days a week, most often on Paint Creek Trail, which is very near my house. I’ll typically do 10-15 miles weekdays and 25-50 on weekends as the season heats up. On rainy days and during the winter, I have an elliptical machine, a stationary recumbent bike and a treadmill for in-home workouts. I don’t do any resistance training and that is most definately on my to-do list.

But it all takes time, doesn’t it? Sometimes I feel like I need to retire so I can take care of my body.

One thing that really helps me is writing down everything I eat and every workout I do. It keeps me motivated and allows me to see what works. There are lots of cool logging, training and motivational resources out there. Check below for some suggested training and diet programs.
