Confused in Alpena

By mike | May 23, 2007

The weather is starting to warm but today’s ride in Alpena, MI was an overall disappointment. I set off enthused from the hotel armed with a map of the Lake Huron coastal city’s 14-mile Bi-Path bicycle system.

The trail was great in spots but a mix of sidewalks and shoulders and was very confusing overall. Bike routes just seemed to end with little direction or signage.

Added to my frustration was a balky cycle computer. A wire was crimped and it was fixed after the ride.

Looking forward to better rides as I head into Michigan’s Upper Peninsula today.
