Bicycle Locks

Sunday, July 29th, 2007

From Reg Gupton, special to ClydesdaleFitness.com
Bicycle locks are a key tool in your bike’s safety. If you love your bike as I do and it is expensive too, you need to invest some serious time (researching what lock suits your needs) and money to buy the best of many good bicycle locks on the market. […]

Bicycle Clothes-an overview

Saturday, July 28th, 2007

From Reg Gupton, special to ClydesdaleFitness.com
I see two types of cyclists on the road - those wearing regular street clothes when cycling, and those wearing specialized bicycle clothes. (The latter include a subspecies that looks like a moving billboard.) I started riding in cut off Levis and running shoes. Now I never ride except in […]

Pat’s Road Rash

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

Pat Benson is now at home healing from his fractured skull, broken collarbone and severe road rash. His picture is a powerful reminder to all of us why wearing a helmet is essential… even on a short around the block ride as he was doing.
Glad you’re on the mend, Pat.

Pat crashed on his bike today and is in Troy Beaumont Hospital. Wife Val says he has a fractured skull, fractured left clavicle and lots of road rash “on his bald […]

Friday, July 13th, 2007

For updates, photos and videos from each day, visit my blog and area on the Detroit Free Press Web site (www.freep.com).
Looking forward to seeing everyone up there. Let’s ride.

Pre-ride training

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

The Michigander begins Saturday and I’m ready. Always wonder before a long ride like this how I should train this last week.  Back when I was a runner, we always backed down the last few days.
Wonder if that makes sense with the Michigander? My route is to train as normal through Wednesday, get the bike […]

Click to Play

A week before the Michigander cross-state bicycle tour, a group of us gathered for a long training ride that took us from Rochester through Rochester Hills, Auburn Hills, Bloomfield Township and into Pontiac on the Clinton River Trail.
We rode until the surface turned to ballast - large fist-sized rocks. Meet some of the […]
