Michigander Training Ride Saturday June 16 at 8 a.m.

By mike | June 15, 2007

Ready for 20 miles Saturday? That’s what we’ll do for our next “Ride with Mike” group training ride as we prepare for next month’s Michigander cross-state bicycle tour.

We’ll meet up at 8 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the Rochester library in downtown Rochester. We’ll head south through town and pick up the Clinton River Trail, following it east until it joins the Macomb Orchard Trail. Then we’ll take that into Romeo or so, doing about 20 miles

I’ll bring my bikecam and we’ll do a video of the ride. If you’re coming, be sure to bring lots of water. It’s supposed to be hot and humid. Except for a mile or so along the Clinton River Trail (crushed gravel), most of the ride will be on an asphalt surface. You can ride at whatever pace you want but the ride will be flat and pretty easy, helping you log some saddle time as you build up to a 40 miler we’ll do July 7, a week before the Michigander.

And yes, there’s still time to sign up for the Michigander. If you’ve consistently been riding your bike for a few weeks, you should have time to get in shape. Go to www.michigantrails.org/michigander.asp for a registration form. Meantime… see you tomorrow morning.

Looks like there’s a typo in the date, as the 26th is a Monday. Should probably read the 16th.

Either way, I’ll be there, and am looking forward to it!

Keeps my enthusiasm up to get out there as often as possible.
