Be careful in the heat

By mike | June 19, 2007

In my part of the country, we’ve had a real heat wave going, with temps in the mid-90s with high humidity.
I just heard from a friend who called to tell me that the wife of a mutual friend was bicycling this afternoon along the Paint Creek Trail. She had a heart attack and died. I rode the same stretch of trail early this morning.
I have no other details and am unsure whether their was a history of heart problems or not with my friend’s wife. But it is a tragic reminder of the dangers of the heat, proper conditioning and the need for lots of water.
Be careful out there.

Wow.. Sorry to hear that Mike.. This is definitely the time of year you need to take it easy and keep hydrated.. Don’t hesitate to not ride if that’s the case.

My heart goes out to the family.. That’s an absolute shame..
