Morning Delight
By mike | May 2, 2007
I was feeling a bit sorry for myself on the morning ride. My right knee has been sore all week, forcing me to ice it and down some Motrins to fall asleep at night. And there was this twinge of pain on my lower right side. The start of a hernia? No way. I was not enjoying this ride.
And then she stepped onto the trail. And my whole attitude changed.
She was a beautiful doe, coming up from Paint Creek. I quietly stopped on a wooden bridge across the water. We stared at each other for 20-30 seconds, no more than 20 feet apart. Slowly, I fumbled at the back of my jacket and pulled out a little video camera I’m testing. I got her as she leisurely walked across the trail and then,as another biker approached from the opposite direction, disappeared back down towards the creek.
Suddenly, all was well. What a beautiful creature. What a great day to be alive.

Nothing more wonderful than seeing nature on a ride.. Very cool that you were able to see it, as well as catch a bit of it on video..
